On Friday 19th January, we had a craft session about shooting staged interviews. This session, which was led by Harry Fisher, was very insightful. We learnt about all of the best ways to film an interview. From creating the best lighting on set for an interview to capturing the best possible sound, we were given a lot of very helpful information that I hope and will try to apply in my non-fiction film, as it is very likely that it will feature interview shots. This session also helped me better understand how to film an interview correctly, with Harry explaining to us where the interviewee should be placed on screen and how the camera should be positioned.
In our new crews will also went out to practice shooting a staged interview. This allowed me to not only have an opportunity to practice filming an interview but it also let me get to know my new crew better. So I can easily say that this craft session was very beneficial to me and has allowed me to be better prepared for shooting my non-fiction film.
